Who We Are

Founded in 2004 by Cary Johnson, Open Meadow is a family-owned general contracting company, committed to collaborating with our build team, office team, trade partners, and clients to deliver the highest quality custom home builds and residential remodeling projects.  

In 2017, Cary Johnson hired Robert McGlauflin as General Manager.  Rob graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Civil Engineering, and has over two decades of experience in building and construction management.   In 2022, Rob purchased Open Meadow from Cary.  Rob, along with his wife Gayle McGlauflin, Director of Business Operations, have continued to expand on Cary's legacy of excellence in New England construction management.

With the in-house build team at Open Meadow and strong relationships with area trade partners, including area architects, we are able to efficiently manage and build a wide variety of custom residential construction projects. We handle everything from a bath and kitchen remodel to building your dream home from the ground up. If you can dream it, we can build it!

The Process

Our entire team is fully invested in seeing your design and vision realized in full and our process is a big part of what makes Open Meadow a success!

Getting to Know You: We care deeply about your experience and our process starts with a warm, welcoming initial phone call to introduce ourselves and to understand your project goals.

Initial Site Meeting: In this phase, we meet you on site to walkthrough the project together and get to the heart of what you are looking for. This phase may include taking photos and measurements and looking at any schematic plans that clients may already have.

 

Initial Estimate: based on our knowledge of current pricing and recent projects we have completed. The goal of this is to get good information for you early on in the process so that you can make good decisions regarding budget and scope.

 

Pre-Construction: During this phase of the project, if the budget and scope align, and the customer chooses to move forward, we work with the client along with the architect or designer to finalize the project’s scope. In this phase the architect will put together a construction set of drawings.

At this time, we share our preferred vendor list with our clients so that they can choose their finishes, cabinetry, flooring, etc. With this information, we then put together a final, formal proposal and construction contract.

Construction Contract: With the final proposal, we put together the contract. The signed contract allows us to pull permits, and schedule the work with our team and our trade partners. Once the contract is signed, we start bringing your project to life!
